In-Person vs. Online Auctions

July 20, 2021 By //  by carol

Most people are familiar with in-person auctions. These auctions allow bidders to compete against each other to obtain the things they want and need. Bidding starts at a pre-determined price, and bidders have the opportunity place as many bids as they choose. As the auction progresses, the price of each item goes up. Online auctions work in a similar fashion. However, bidding takes place entirely online and bidders never come into direct contact with each other.

Location

Between work, family, and other commitments, most people don’t have a lot of free time. Unfortunately, bidders must visit an auction house in order to participate in in-person auctions. As bidding progresses, in-person auctions can take a significant amount of time and bidders must wait until the item(s) they want get auctioned off.

Online auctions take place over the internet. Bidders can place bids from their computer or smartphone. After the auction closes, bidders can pick-up their item(s) from the address listed on each auction. Shipping within the United States is often available.

Length of Time

Although in-person auctions frequently go longer than intended, most last only a few hours. Each item gets auctioned off individually, and bidders must be physically present to participate in the auction. With online auctions, bidders can choose from multiple items and bidding takes place over the course of several days. Because bidding takes place entirely online, bidders can participate both day and night. They do not have to visit an auction house to take part in the auction.

Spending

It’s not uncommon for bidders to get swept up in the thrill and excitement of an in-person auction. However, this can quickly lead to overspending. Bidding frenzy is common, and bidders often end up paying more than intended.

Online auctions allow bidders to set a maximum bid amount. The system automatically bids on their behalf up until the set amount. This system helps prevent overspending and allows the bidder to walk away from the auction. The auction platform sends notification each time the bidder gets outbid.

Lots of Auctions offers online auctions in Texas and Missouri. Our auctions take place daily and bidders can choose from multiple categories. Please click here to register to bid.

Bidding on Timed Auctions

May 18, 2021 By //  by carol

Online auctions provide an exciting, convenient, and affordable option for consumers. These auctions often include a large selection of merchandise including home furnishings, office supplies, and more. Although different types of auctions exist, timed auctions are one of the most common and exciting types of online auction.

What is a Timed Online Auction?

Timed online auctions run for a set period of time. During the auction, bidders compete against each other to win each item. Because bidding takes place entirely online, bidders can participate both day and night. Bidders receive notification as the auction nears its end. Depending on the auction platform, bidding times may get extended if someone places a bid in the last few minutes of the auction. Known as popcorn bidding, this type of system ensures all bidders have the opportunity to place their final bid.

Maximum Bid

Bidders in timed online auctions often have the opportunity to place a “maximum bid”. Once entered, the system automatically bids on the behalf of the bidder, up until the maximum bid amount is met. The system sends an email alert or other notification when the bidder gets outbid. Bidders then have the opportunity to increase their maximum bid or forfeit the auction.

Increased Control Over Spending

Many bidders get carried away during live auctions. Bidding in timed online auctions helps bidders better control their spending. Setting a maximum bid for each item helps keep bidders on budget. Knowing the end time of the auction limits the amount of bidding possible.

New Auctions Weekly

Perhaps one of the biggest benefits of timed online auctions is the availability of new auctions. When one auction closes, bidders have the opportunity to participate immediately in more online auctions. There’s always something new to bid on.

Online Auction Platform

Lots of Auctions offers timed online auctions in Denton, TX, Fort Worth, Texas, Dallas, TX, and Cape Girardeau, Missouri. New auctions start each week and bidders can choose from a wide range of categories. Bidding starts low and winning bidders can pick-up their items immediately after auction close.

How Online Auctions Are Changing the Auction Industry

March 2, 2021 By //  by carol

Not that long ago, the only way people could participate in an auction was to show up at an auction hall or other location and wait until they saw something they wanted to bid on. While these types of auctions still exist, online auctions have become the auction of choice for many Americans. In fact, many consumers that wouldn’t normally participate in in-person auctions find the thrill and excitement of online auctions difficult to resist.

Growth of Online Auctions

The concept of online auctions isn’t new. People have been bidding online for over two decades. eBay, one of the world’s most popular online auction platforms launched their first auction in 1995. On September 21st, 1998, eBay went public. This allowed people from all over the world to list their items for sale and place bid on items as well. Since that time, many brick and mortar auction houses have incorporated online auctions into their normal business operations.

While in person auctions still take place and attract significant attention, this might change in the next few years. E-commerce sales are expected to exceed 15% of all retail sales in U.S. by the end of this year. Within the last ten years, global e-commerce sales have increased 600%. If growth continues as expected, it won’t be long before most, if not all sales take place online. This includes auction sales.

Benefits of Online Auctions

Online auctions provide a convenient way for consumers to obtain a wide range of merchandise. Because these auctions take place entirely online, bidders can view auctions and place bids at any time of the day or night. This is different than in-person auctions where bidders must be physically present at the exact time and place of the auction.

Although many people believe only young people participate in online auctions, nothing could be further than the truth. Many older adults enjoy the convenience and flexibility online auctions offer.

For sellers, online auctions provide benefits over in-person auctions as well. Sellers that list their items for sale on online auction platforms reach a large number of people in a short amount of time. Selling online also makes it possible to reach consumers that live in other states or countries. Although some of these consumers might travel out of the area to visit an in-person auction, they’re more likely to participate online.

Save Money with Electronics Auctions

February 9, 2021 By //  by carol

As technology evolves, people rely on electronics to complete a number of daily tasks. From making breakfast to catching up on the latest news and staying connected with friends and family, electronics play an important role in all of our lives.

People looking to buy newer electronics often find the cost overwhelming. Unfortunately, consumers don’t have a lot of options when it comes to saving money. Buying older, used electronics isn’t advised. In addition to being out of date, these electronics may be unreliable and have an extremely short lifespan.

Online Auctions

Purchasing electronics through online liquidation auctions allows buyers to obtain high quality name brand products at deeply discounted prices. Most of the items sold in these auctions are brand new products. Some even come with the original manufacturer’s warranty. This is an excellent option for anyone looking to obtain high quality electronics for less.

Unlike in-person auctions, which require bidders to meet and bid at an auction hall, online auctions allow bidders to place bids from the comfort of their home or office. Once the auction closes, winners pay and pick-up their items from the auction house. Many people find this process much easier and more convenient than other types of auctions. Bidders often win auctions at costs well below market value, making online auctions an affordable and exciting opportunity for resellers, entrepreneurs, college students, seniors, families, and anyone looking for a great deal on quality products.

How It Works

After registering to bid, bidders can search the auctions to locate the item(s) they’d like to purchase. Under each item description, bidders can enter a maximum bid or select the quick bid option. The quick bid option places the minimum bid. This is a one-time bid and bidders must return to the listing to place additional bids. The maximum bid option allows the auction platform to continue bidding for you. As other people place bids, the system automatically applies the next minimum bid in your name until it reaches your highest bid.

Lots of Auctions launches new auctions every week. Our electronics auctions include electronics from the best name brands.
